Even our State Capitol is rumored to be haunted! In 1870, during a crowded Court of Appeals trial to settle a disputed mayor's race, the second story of the building collapsed onto the chamber killing 60 people and injuring more than 100. It became nationally known as the "Capitol Disaster. Since its reconstruction, visitors and employees claim to hear the moans of the dying even to this day.
