After tobacco, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and synthetic fibers are the most profitable manufactured goods. Coal is the top mined product and crabs and oysters are tops in the fishing industry. Mars, Inc. located in McLean, Virginia is the largest privately held company in the state, and ranks 6th in the U.S. Mars is best known for the confectionery items that it creates, such as Milky Way, M&M's, Twix, Skittles, Snickers, and the Mars bar. They also produce non-confectionery snacks, such as Combos, and other foods, including Uncle Ben's Rice and pet foods such as the Whiskas and Pedigree brands. Virginians say Yum!
