This may be the smallest house in USA. The house is 7 feet wide and 36 feet long, located on Queen Street in Alexandria, Virginia. John Hollensbury, a brick maker, built the tiny house in the 1830s, for his daughters, Julia and Harriett. The “lot” on which it was built was actually a narrow alley between Hollensbury’s house and his neighbor’s. Local lore says the house was built to keep a neighbor from parking his over sized carriage there, hence the home's nickname: Spitehouse. The 350 square foot house is now a weekend retreat.
We are quite proud to be a Virginia company, and what better way to celebrate this than by celebrating Virginia!
