George Washington is the only U.S. president to have officially defaced a Virginia landmark. Natural Bridge or "the Bridge of God", according to native legend, materialized to help a band of Monocan Indians fleeing raiding Shawnee and Powhatans. In 1749, British Lord Fairfax hired Peter Jefferson to survey the land around the Bridge. His young assistant, 6 year old son George Washington, carved his initials into the stone wall. A faint "GW" is still visible today.
We are quite proud to be a Virginia company, and what better way to celebrate this than by celebrating Virginia!
