No Swearing in Public. It's The Law!

In Virginia, it is against the law to curse in the street. In fact, "profane swearing and intoxication in public" are class 4 misdemeanors in the entire state. Of course, growing up, we Virginians were taught "Virginia Manners" where you would watch your mouth, respect your elders, say "yes ma'am" and "no sir" and keep your elbows off the table. Simple lessons that keep us in good stead with our neighbors - whether natives or "come heres."
