Happy National Female Physicians Day! In Virginia, there are 21, 707 physicians, with 7,416 of them women. The national average is 51%.
A recent study by Harvard researchers has found that female doctors get better results with their patients* than their male counterparts. Patients cared for by women were less likely to die or return to the hospital after discharge. The study's authors estimate "that approximately 32,000 fewer patients would die if male physicians could achieve the same outcomes as female physicians every year."
We're just sayin'.
